Gas Solutions

Key infrastructures for energy supply and transition

Building critical gas infrastructures with innovation and reliability

Since the 1970s, Sener has applied its gas engineering expertise to develop critical infrastructures that ensure a secure and efficient energy supply. These assets have strengthened Europe’s energy security for decades and progressively adapted to incorporate emerging fuels such as hydrogen and other renewable gases.

Building on a proven record of delivering complete regasification terminals, cryogenic tanks, virtual pipelines, small- to medium-scale liquefaction facilities, and compression stations across Europe and LATAM, Sener also designs and executes terminals for other products such as ammonia and ethylene. Today, we continue to merge technological innovation with engineering excellence to ensure that gas infrastructures remain a cornerstone of the energy transition.

Scalability, integration, and future readiness

Our references demonstrate both technical and commercial reliability. The German LNG terminal in Brunsbüttel will provide up to 8 BCMA of regasification capacity with two 165,000 m³ tanks. In the Netherlands, Gate Terminal has expanded with a fourth 180,000 m³ tank and increased throughput, reinforcing its position as one of Europe’s largest gas hubs. In Spain, the BBG expansion included a 150,000 m³ tank—the first in the country built under EN 1473 and EN 14620 standards. These achievements reflect our ability to scale projects and adapt them to new market and regulatory conditions.

Why Choose Us

Sener is one of the leading engineering and turnkey contractors in the gas sector and in any type of import terminals (ammonia, LPG, ethylene), combining decades of engineering services with EPC delivery. We have executed landmark projects such as Los Ramones compression stations in Mexico, Sagunto LNG and BBG in Spain, Dunkirk LNG in France and Zeebrugge in Belgium, Gate Terminal in the Netherlands, and German LNG in Germany. These references confirm our ability to combine gas engineering excellence with proven EPC delivery to secure energy supply while enabling the transition to sustainable fuels.

Beyond execution, we add value with proprietary designs including boil-off gas recondenser/reliquefier systems and patented cryogenic tank engineering. These innovations, paired with our experience in thermal integration with combined cycle plants, set us apart in terms of efficiency, reliability, and future readiness.

How we work

We approach projects through a lifecycle methodology. In assessment, we analyze demand, supply routes, environmental requirements and opportunities to integrate renewable gases . In design, our gas engineering teams model cryogenic tanks, vaporisers, compressor systems and marine works, applying structural and process expertise to maximize efficiency and safety. Implementation follows under EPC contracts covering civil, marine, process and electrical scopes, coordinated under rigorous QA/QC. Finally, in operation, we provide predictive maintenance, boil-off management and upgrades that ensure long-term durability and adaptability.

We ensure value through flexibility and durable design

Our EPC philosophy ensures that every asset can adapt to future needs. By embedding modular and floating configurations such as FSRU, developing virtual LNG distribution pipelines, and delivering cryogenic tanks optimized for decades of service, we create infrastructures that can incorporate renewable gases without losing relevance. In this way, our gas engineering services deliver both immediate reliability and long-term sustainability.

At Sener, we develop gas infrastructures that ensure today’s energy supply and are prepared for the renewable fuels of the future, combining engineering excellence with proven reliability.
